Large crowds gathering round David & the models at Southbank on a sunny September day (27/9/15)

Heartfelt congratulations to David Tovey (artist & photographer) for pulling off his first one-man ‘autumn collection’ fashion show with a difference over the weekend. And what a difference it was.

Picture the scene at Southbank, London: sunny clear skies, large crowds of happy and cheerful people around, music in the air, the beautiful River Thames on one side and not a care in the world! In the distance, the sound of a beating drum. Out comes a procession of beautiful models wearing bold, colourful & stunning couture outfits (made from recycled materials!) which many Fashion Houses would be proud of. Everyone from the models, make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers etc came to David’s aid, and sacrificed their Sunday (plus weeks of preparation) for free.

This unique catwalk, which was David’s brainchild for his brand ‘Man on Bench’ (#‎manonbench‬), was to create awareness of homelessness in a positive and inspiring way. As you know, this same simple believe is shared by Clothing the Homeless and Cafe Art, who were there to lend a hand.

You can see some of the stunning models and outfits created by David in a photo gallery by Neil Cordell of The RPS on this link here. Well done, David, on making a bold & positive statement right in the centre of London!
